Quiet launches for the win

In late September, I made  a post concerning a new project of mine. Well, it’s pretty much live. It’s a YouTube channel which showcases up and coming bands! Currently I’ve only uploaded 2 videos, but next week on Monday (yes, I even have a programme schedule) I’ll upload another video.

So OK, it’s sort of been rushed out, but I’m OK with that. As long as it’s up there.

We’ve just lost a visionary

Hey guys, it’s me Mark with another update.

Today as some of you may know, co-founder of Apple and founder of Pixar, Steve Jobs passed away. Steve Jobs’ passing was due to his longterm battle with pancreatic cancer. I send my condolences to Steve Jobs’ loved ones and former employees.

I’ll leave you with one of Jobs’ best quotes;

“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

New indie band: The Autons, and they KICK ASS!

They’ve got me into a genre I’ve never even thought I’d ever get interested in, Punk. Or more specifically, Garage Punk. The Autons is a British band made up of four people. Aron (Vocals + Guitar), Jack (Vocals + Guitar), Conor (Vocals + Drums) and Luke (Vocals + Bass).

They’re going to release their EP, Thugs, Guns & Broken Drums on 12th August, and if you catch them at a after-EP launch event (which will be in Hull, UK), the EP’s will be going for a measly £2. Which is pretty cheap considering you’ll be getting five tracks!

Indie band Edelweiss to be big?

No, I’m not talking about the Sound of Music song. I’m talking about the indie-band.

Edelweiss is an all new indie band (currently unsigned, I think) which features members who are pretty young. Their youngest member is actually 14.

A great quote from a website which describes Edelweiss perfectly:

“…atmospheric and electronic, choruses sung by multiple voices adding texture to the sparse and frigid guitars echoing around the room, and a rhythm and beat that’s reminiscent of each of the above bands.” – ListenBeforeYouBuy

Edelweiss have 2 songs available to purchase, Fiasco and No. Both of the tracks are quite good and fun to listen to. My personal favourite track is Fiasco.

As of now they’re trying to raise $2500 to record an EP. I would love to see this band get signed as I think they have raw talent.
